The factory was built in years 1974 - 76 as a lead factory of Polish woodworking industry. Under the name of Slavian Woodworking Enterprise „SPPD Sławodrzew” the company existed until 1992. An original project, which foresaw construction of both lumber mill and deep-processing rooms was not realized. In the beginning the factory consisted of a sawmill with logs handling and a sorting line, stacking house, drying tunnels, packaging house and storing structures. This lumber mill was the biggest and most modern of such factories in Poland.

In 1984 the line of sawing of small diameter logs “Canter” was started, what considerably increased the capacity of the sawmill. In the middle of 80’ a record of yearly volume of processed logs was reached - 236 thousand cub.m. of round wood.

In top-period there were over 760 people employed in the factory. 95% of Slawodrzew’s production was sawn timber, only a small part was deeply processed (floor boards and siding panels). In 1992, SPPD was transformed to Sławodrzew LLC, and in 1998 the company was bought by Koszalinian Woodworking Enterprise „KPPD” in Szczecinek and “Poltarex “. The company went bankrupt in 2001. In 2002 the company, as a whole, was bought by a group of polish investors and the company „Slawodrzew 3 LLC” was established. In 2004 we’ve changed the name to ABWood Sp. z o.o. (LLC).

Since the very beginning the company was directed for modernization and production cycle optimization in pursuit of maximal processing of sawn timber produced by the sawmill. After the sawmill started on Feb, 2003, on May, 2003 the production in Furniture Department started. The Department started its activity from production of bed bases.

In years 2004-2005 the plant was equipped with drying chambers with a total volume of 1750 cub.m. of sawn timber, what together with already build drying tunnels gave a total volume of dryers equal to 3000 cub.m. In the beginning of 2006 a new house for deep wood processing was opened. The area of this house is 6000sq.m. Inside a production of furniture and components is running. Also in 2006 a new boiler house, heated with wood wastes, was started. Overall power of the boiler house amounts to 14MW.

In 2007 besides of further current purchases of machines and devices we intend to start a new fully automatic line for Pallets production and will conduct a further modernization of existing structures and infrastructure, together with complementing machines to start a new production of pine glued board furniture series in 2008. With satisfaction we will inform about the realization of our next new endeavours still being planned and analyzed.
